David Ginsberg explains new HIPAA audits in webinar

By: Lisa Marlin

June 20, 2016

You’re invited to listen in as our own David Ginsberg, President of PrivaPlan Associates Inc., will be the featured HIPAA expert on a free webinar hosted by CORHIO (Colorado Regional Health Information Organization). David will address the timely topic of the new HIPAA audits and what this means to you on Tuesday, June 28, 12pm – 1pm, MST.

As you know, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) recently began its next phase of audits of covered entities and their business associates. The 2016 Phase 2 HIPAA Audit Program reviews the policies and procedures adopted and employed by covered entities and their business associates to meet selected standards and implementation specifications of the Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules.

Every covered entity and business associate is eligible for an audit. These include covered individual and organizational providers of health services; health plans of all sizes and functions; health care clearinghouses; and a range of business associates of these entities.

♦  How does the OCR determine who gets audited?
♦  Could your practice be selected?
♦  What happens during an audit?

David will answer these questions in the webinar, as well as go over what you should do to be prepared for an audit. Additionally, he’ll share resources available for you to either to prepare for an audit or comply with an audit. CORHIO has promised to leave time for a Q&A with David. You can register here.
