Final HIPAA Omnibus Rule has Been Released

After over 2 years, the HIPAA Omnibus Rule has been released and will be published in the Federal Register on January 25, 2013. Some 563 pages identify changes to patient rights such as requesting restriction on disclosures of PHI, rights to   electronic copies of PHI, marketing changes as well as sweeping changes to business associate HIPAA compliance and enforcement penalties.
